Fans of Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Bourbon Barrel Quad have two pieces of big news to digest.
The Kansas City, Mo.-based brewery has announced that it is changing up the packaging format of the 11.8 percent ABV oak barrel-aged Belgian-style dark ale, switching from the corked and caged 750ml bottles it has historically been available in to four-packs of 12-ounce bottles. In addition, the former seasonal release will now be available year-round.
Bourbon Barrel Quad was first released as part of Boulevard’s Smokestack Series in 2009.
According to a post on Boulevard’s Instagram page, the new four-packs of 12-ounce bottles will be available across the brewery’s distribution network staring in October.
The brewery has said that it will be “slightly higher priced” than the brewery’s typical four-packs due to the barrel-aged nature of the beer.
