Next month, Boulevard Brewing Co. will be adding a brand new barrel-aged option to its year-round lineup.
Whiskey Barrel Stout, an 11 percent ABV stout brewed with Columbus and Magnum hops as well as extras, dark brown sugar and various malts before being aged in freshly emptied whiskey barrels from a variety of different distillers. The barrel-aged beer is then blended with roughly one-third fresh stout before being bottled.
Whiskey Barrel Stout will be the newest edition to Boulevard’s Smokestack Series, which includes both limited releases and year-round beers packaged in both 750ml bottles and 12-ounce bottles.
According to a press release, Whiskey Barrel Stout will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and is scheduled to be released in the greater Kansas City area on Sept. 12, with other regions in Boulevard’s distribution network following soon after.
