A brand new release from Boulevard Brewing Co. was inspired by the classic Manhattan cocktail.

The appropriately named Manhattan Social Club is a 12.5 percent ABV imperial rye ale “to mimic the rye whiskey and give it the necessary spicy rye note” that has been barrel-aged in “a variety of different rye whiskey barrels.”

In addition, the ale was conditioned on “a heady combination of spices” including nutmeg, orange peel, lemon peel, star anise, and cinnamon to mimic bitters, plum puree to mimic sweet vermouth, real cherries and brown sugar.

According to a post on Boulevard’s website, Manhattan Social Club Ale will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles that are scheduled to be released in the “greater Kansas City area” starting next week, with ” surrounding areas to follow.”
