Bottle Logic Brewing’s most recent joint effort with Chicago-based Mikerphone Brewing Co. is an “ode to the sticky science behind maple syrup production.”
The beer in question is named Concentrated Solution 2020, a 15 percent ABV imperial stout fermented with maple syrup sourced from Bascom Family Farms in Vermont before being aged in a combination of bourbon, maple and vanilla “extract barrels.” That new base stout was then finished on both maple syrup and walnuts before being packaged.
Bottle Logic and Mikerphone have collaborated multiple times before, most notably on Time Trials and Making Friends, both of which are New England-style double IPAs.
In addition, Concentrated Solution 2020 is a member of Bottle Logic’s Stasis Project Series, which “celebrates the barrel as a fifth ingredient” and includes other notables such as Not My Gumdrop Buttons! 2019 (20.59 percent ABV), Equivalent Dose 2019 (13.49 percent ABV) and Arcane Rituals 2019 (13.59 percent ABV.)
According to Bottle Logic, Concentrated Solution 2020 will be packaged in 500ml bottles ($23.95) and will have a three bottle per person purchase limit. Interested parties will have the chance to order tickets redeemable for bottles on Feb. 23 via Eventbrite with bottle pickups starting Feb. 29 and no proxies will be allowed. Finally, bottles may be available for purchase in the Tasting Room if they do not sell out during the online sale.
