Fans of one of Bell’s Brewery, Inc. most popular beers are getting a gift just in time for the new year.

Starting tomorrow, the Comstock, Mich.-based brewery will be shipping cans of its Hopslam, a 10 percent ABV double IPA brewed six different varieties of hops and honey before being dry-hopped with Simcoe hops. The IPA was first released in 2004 packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles, which were changed to six-packs of 12-ounce cans for the first time last year.

According to a post on Bell’s website, the 2017 release of Hopslam will ship in stages with counties in lower Michigan getting the first cans starting on Jan. 2. The rest of the brewery’s distribution will follow the schedule below:

  • January 9 — northern Michigan Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin
  • January 16 — Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, southern California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Virginia

However, while 2015 saw the reintroduction of 5L mini-kegs for the first time since 2011, a post on Bell’s Instagram page indicates that Hopslam will only be available in cans and on draft for 2017. In addition, while both Colorado and Texas were added to Bell’s distribution network last year, the website indicates that those two states will not be shipped any Hopslam this year.
