There is a big change coming to one of Bell’s Brewery’s most popular beers.
The 2016 release of Hopslam has shipped, and it is only available in six-packs of 12-ounce cans, as well as in mini kegs. The 10 percent ABV double IPA has been packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles since it was first released in 2004.
“The first shipment of Hopslam has left the building,” reads a press release. “It will ship over the next few weeks until every batch is canned and kegged. Trucks will leave our brewery, loaded with as much as we can fill them with and as fast as we can schedule them, to get this beer to you FRESH.”
In addition to replacing bottles with cans, Bell’s has also announced the beer will also be sold in 5L mini-kegs for the first time since 2011.
“With construction here at the brewery on top of an already very busy schedule for our existing Bottling Hall, this was the only way to ensure that this beer got to market as quickly and as fresh as possible,” said Laura Bell, vice president of Bell’s, in a post on its website. “Our Canning Line is very well equipped to lend a hand and help get this aromatic beer to our fans and customers so that they can enjoy it as it is intended.”
Hopslam is the sixth Bell’s beer to be packaged in cans: Two Hearted IPA (7 percent ABV), Oberon APA (5.8 percent ABV), Best Brown English brown ale (5.8 percent ABV), Winter White witbier (5 percent ABV) and Smitten Golden Rye ale (6 percent ABV) are available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans while Two Hearted and Oberon are also sold in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.
