One of the most anticipated beers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is being released on Dec. 13.
Lakewood Brewing Co.’s Bourbon Barrel Temptress, a 9.8 percent ABV variation of the brewery’s popular Temptress milk stout aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for almost six months, will be making its return.
Since 2012, Lakewood has released a variety of versions of Bourbon Barrel Temptress. Last year, the company bottled the beer for the first time. That version was aged in spent barrels of Bulleit bourbon for five months.
Approximately 4,800 22-ounce bottles were produced this year, double the estimated 2,400 bottles that were filled in 2013. Bottles will once again be limited to the Dallas/Forth Worth market.
More modified versions of Temptress will hit shelves next year as Lakewood releases bottles of the Seduction Series for the first time. That release consists of a variety of modified Temptress beers, although Bourbon Barrel Temptress is not formally included.
The brewery told Tenemu four Seduction Series releases are scheduled to be released in bottles next year: Raspberry Temptress, sometime the first quarter; Mole Temptress in the second quarter; French Quarter Temptress in the third quarter and Sin Mint Temptress in the fourth quarter. Bourbon Barrel Temptress is scheduled to return next year in bottles.
The beer will debut on draft at the Garland, Texas-based brewery on Dec. 13, with 22-ounce bottles ($14) shipping to retailers in the Dallas area starting the next week.
Update: The original version of this story incorrectly identified Bourbon Barrel Temptress as part of the Seduction Series.
