On December 31, Bearded Eel Craft Brewery will close its doors for good.

In a statement on its Facebook page, brewery owners B.J. and Becky Burnett explain that the brewery was taking too much of a daily toll on their lives:

Over the last two and a half years, Becky and I have done everything in our power to bring Bearded Eel from dream to reality, and as we prepare to close out 2015, we have made the very difficult decision to also close Bearded Eel. This decision did not come easy, but it is the right thing to do. For two and half years we have worked tirelessly, and given this endeavor everything we have mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially, and what has become clear is that we can no longer sustain the daily toll it is taking.

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Bearded Eel opened last year and had a multitude of beers, including Hopposebly American IPA (6.5 percent ABV,) Texican serrano pepper-infused ale (6.2 percent ABV) and The Stout Russian imperial stout (10.1 percent ABV) among stothers.

According to the Facebook page post, the owners are planning on starting both a website and YouTube channel where they will share “our love of beer, and, wait for it… ALL, yes ALL of our beer recipes” for home brewers.
