A brand new barrel-aged stout coming from Barrel Theory Beer Co. next month may blur the line between ice cream and beer.
Barrel-Aged Ice Cream Social is a 12.5 percent ABV “Neapolitan Stout” brewed with cacao, marshmallow fluff, strawberries and vanilla beans that has been aged in barrels that previously held Four Roses bourbon and Willett Rye bourbon. The stout debuted on draft at the Minnesota Craft Brewers’ Guild Winterfest 2019 event that was held on Jan. 25 in St. Paul, Minn.
According to a post on Barrel Theory’s website, Barrel-Aged Ice Cream Social will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($30) that will go on sale at the brewery with a one bottle per person purchase limit on May 11.
