A new release coming from Ballast Point Brewing Co. next year takes its inspiration from a popular cocktail.

Moscow Mule is a 10 percent ABV sour ale brewed with ginger and lime zest. As the name indicates, the beer is inspired by the Moscow mule drink, which is typically made with vodka, ginger beer and lime juice served in a copper mug.

The San Diego-based brewery released a draft-only beer with the same name in May, but that version came in at a slightly higher 10.2 percent ABV.

According to a spokesperson for Ballast Point, Moscow Mule will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles that are scheduled to be shipped to retailers across the brewery’s distribution network in April.
