A new beer from Ballast Point Brewing Co. is being released as the official craft beer of the San Diego Padres and to commemorate the team’s 50th anniversary.

Swingin’ Friar Ale is a 5.5 percent ABV “happy pale ale” that is brewed exclusively with Simcoe hops. Pictured on the six-pack box is the Swingin’ Friar, who is also the long-time mascot of the major league baseball team.

According to a Ballast Point Instagram post, Swingin’ Friar Ale will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles that will available opening day of the San Diego Padres season, which this year falls on March 28. The beer will only be available through the end of the season at the ballpark and retailers in the city of San Diego.
