Ballast Point Brewing Co.’s most popular porter is getting another barrel-aged variant in bottles.
The San Diego, Calif.-based brewery will be releasing High West Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea, a 12 percent ABV imperial porter brewed with coffee beans sourced from Caffe Calabria, vanilla and peanut butter before being aged in barrels that previously held High West bourbon and rye. The porter has been aged in various brands of barrels and released in bottles over the years, including Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea (12.2 percent ABV), Heaven Hills Bourbon Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea (12.2 percent ABV) and Rum & Rye Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea (12.4 percent ABV), among others.
In 2015, Constellation Brands purchased Ballast Point for approximately $1 billion.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), High West Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
