Fans of Ballast Point Brewing who live in Wisconsin will soon be able to buy its beer locally.
The San Diego, Calif.-based brewery will be expanding into the Badger State via Wirtz Beverage beginning on Jan 1. According to the brewery, the popular Sculpin IPA will be the among the first offerings in the state to be available at retail accounts, bars and restaurants, along with other unnamed lines and a “core selection of the company’s spirits.” Other products will follow throughout the year.
“We’ve had great interest in our brands throughout the Midwest and people have been asking for years when we’d come to Wisconsin,” said Jack White, ceo and founder of Ballast Point, in a press release. “It’s really fantastic to have that kind of appeal and support and, it’s even better to be doing it with an experienced partner we know and trust. Wisconsin is an incredible craft state and we look forward to growing here.”
Ballast Point signed a multi-state distribution agreement with Wirtz Beverage that included Illinois and Minnesota back in October and is now sold in more than 25 states across the United States. The brewery said it produced 88,204 barrels of beer last year.
