Just days after Furtuna was released at the brewery, clues to Avery Brewing Co.’s next beer in the Barrrel-Aged Series have surfaced.
According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the 29th release in the Fort Collins, Colo.-based brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series will be III Dolia, a 8.2 percent ABV sour ale blended from beer aged in three different barrels: 44 percent aged in madeira wine barrels, 31 percent aged in cabernet sauvignon wine barrels and 25 percent aged in carcavelos wine barrels. The beer itself is brewed with Belgian and German malted barley, hops, sacchromyces yeast, brettanomyces yeast, lactobacillus and pediococcus.
“No. 29 is a Byzantine and beautiful blend from the arrest and most expensive barrels we’ve ever filled,” reads the label. “And worth every damn penny.”
According to the label, III Dolia will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles, and will be filled on May 15, with only 285 cases to be released. An email sent to the brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
