Boulder, Colo.-based Avery Brewing Co. will be bottling a barrel-aged version of its Mephistopheles’ Stout brewed with Ozo Coffee espresso brewed into the imperial stout. Earlier incarnations of the base beer with espresso but sans barrel aging were known as Meth Addict, but that named was deemed as inappropriate and it will now known as Tweak. The new recipe will age for four months in bourbon barrels before being bottled and released sometime in November.
“Our very own Parker, of the cartoon cat loving variety, created this cult classic character back in our 17th season,” states the label. “Appearing in several episodes under another stage name that was deemed inappropriate, our executive producers and editors decided that a name change and further character development – a 4-month hiatus in bourbon barrels – were necessary to satisfy our more ardent and demanding viewers.”
Tweak will join three other annual Avery beers on the release schedule in bottles: Rumpkin, an 18 percent ABV rum barrel aged spiced pumpkin ale, Uncle Jacob’s Stout, a 15 percent ABV bourbon barrel aged imperial stout and a new second pumpkin beer, Bourbkin, which is a pumpkin porter that will also be aged in bourbon barrels.
Tweak comes in at a staggering 15.9 percent ABV, and will be sold in 12-ounce bottles across the brewery’s 28-state distribution network.
