As it has every year since it debuted in 2004, Avery Brewing Co. will be releasing The Beast, but this year’s version is a bit different.

The fourteenth incarnation of the seasonal beer from the Boulder, Colo.-based brewery is a 16.8 percent ABV “Grand Cru ale” brewed with both maple sugar and muscovado sugar before being aged in oak barrels. The ale is a seasonal release for Avery that is available between roughly August and September every year.
