Avery Brewing Co.’s newest Barrel-Aged Series release pays homage to Winston Churchill.
The 32nd beer in the series by the Boulder, Colo.-based brewery is Old Perseverance, an 18.4 percent ABV old ale brewed with imported specialty English malted barley and turbinado sugar before being aged in bourbon barrels. Turbinado sugar, best known by the brand Sugar In The Raw, gets its name from the fact that it is processed by spinning it in a cylinder or turbine.
The label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) includes a quote by Winston Churchill, “Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.” In addition to the quote, the label includes a depiction of Churchill.
According to the beer label, Old Perseverance will be limited to 925 cases packaged in 12-ounce bottles and will be bottled on Dec. 8. An email to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
