Days after news of two new beers in Avery Brewing Co.’s Barrel-Aged Series, information on the next release in the line has come to light.
According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the 28th release in the Boulder, Colo.-based brewery’s line will be Fortuna, a 6.6 percent ABV ale aged in tequila barrels from Suerte Tequila with both line zest and salt added. The word is Latin for “fortunate.”
“As luck would have it, our amigos at Suerte dig our brews as we do their tequila,” reads the beer label. “They graciously provided their finest barrels. We filled them and created sour, salty, and citric awesomeness.”
According to the label, Fortuna will be bottled on May 25, 2015 with only 1,197 cases will be produced and will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
Update: The original version of this story misspelled the beer “Fotuna” instead of “Fortuna.”
