The latest entry in Avery Brewing Co.’s Barrel-Aged Series is named after the Latin word for friendship.

Amicitia is a 8.2 percent ABV sour ale aged for eight months in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from two wineries in the Napa Valley. In an email, Vanessa Cory, marketing communication manager at Avery, told Tenemu that the beer was inspired by “friendships that Andy Parker has fostered over the years. We feel very lucky of these relationships and wanted to pay homage to this.”

The ale was bottled on Sept. 21 and is the 47th release in Avery’s Barrel-Aged Series, which is made up of  “small-batch, highly experimental beers that are only brewed once.”

According to a post on Avery’s Instagram page, Amicitia is packaged in 12-ounce bottles and was released at the brewery yesterday with approximately 1,487 cases available. In addition, bottles are now shipping to retailers in Avery’s distribution network.
