Cigar City Brewing is collaborating with An Bui, a restaurant owner from Virginia.
Last March, the brewery produced Good Morning, Mekong, a draft-only 8.3 percent ABV porter brewed with coffee. Now the two are collaborating for Good Night, Mekong, an imperial stout brewed with Vietnamese coffee and vanilla beans.
Bui owns Mekong Restaurant, a Vietnamese restaurant and craft beer bar in Henrico, Va. Last September he opened up The Answer Brewpub in Richmond, which is what Good Night, Mekong is commemorating.
“After months upon months of grueling research, countless test batches, and agonizing bouts of insomnia, we have finally landed at the heard of Hanoi: “Good Night, Mekong,” reads the label. “Roasty as chestnuts at Christmas, this Mekong mixture definitely ensures all those blessed to be in its presence, a very Good Night. Indeed.”
According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the new limited release will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles.
An email sent to the brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
