Almanac Beer Co.’s newest beer is named after a popular figure that lived in the 1800s.

According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Emperor Norton is a 9 percent ABV Belgian-style tripel brewed with apricots from California and “generously” dry-hopped with both citra and hallertau blanc hops.

“A beloved 19th century San Francisco denizen, Emperor Norton was best known for issuing his own currency, calling for the overthrow of the Federal Government, and for prophesying a future bridge connecting San Francisco and Oakland,” reads the label.

Emperor Norton will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles . An email sent to the San Jose, Calif.-based brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
