Plum Fairy is the latest addition to San Jose, Calif.-based Almanac Brewing Co.’s Farm to Barrel Series.

According to a post on Almanac’s Twitter page and a post on the brewery’s website, Plum Fairy is a 5.9 percent ABV farmhouse ale that was aged for three months in oak barrels and then fermented with organic California-grown plums and pluots—a plum and apricot hybrid—and vanilla beans.

🚨 NEW SOUR 🚨 Plum Fairy is a distant relative of the more well-known Sugar Plum Fairy. Instead of ruling the Land of Sweets, this pixie is the Empress of Sour. This barrel-aged farmhouse ale was brewed with @admiralmaltings Pilsner Malt, oats, and spelt. The base beer was then fermented with organic California-grown plums and pluots from Blossom Bluff Orchards and our wild house culture. The final potion is enchantingly well balanced with floral aroma and notes of oak, vanilla, and tart stone fruit. . Almanac’s popular Farm to Barrel series began in 2013 with Barrel Noir imperial stout (10 percent ABV) and now encompasses more than 40 different barrel-aged beers.

Plum fairy is packaged in 375ml bottles and is available for purchase now at the Almanac taproom and is also being shipped to retailers in the brewery’s distribution network.
