According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Allagash Brewing Co. is working on a new version of James Bean, a 10.4 percent ABV ale brewed with Hallertau and Nugget hops before being aged in bourbon barrels for “just shy of two months.” The Portland, Maine-based brewery then adds cold-brewed coffee sourced from Speckled Ax coffee roasters before bottling the final product.

James Bean debuted as a draft-only option in 2013 and was bottled for the first time last year, although that version came in at a slightly higher 11 percent ABV.

The latest incarnation of James Bean will be available in 750ml bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
