According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Allagash Brewing Co. will be releasing Monmouth Red, a 9.5 percent ABV flanders red-style ale brewed with caramel, chocolate and pilsner malts and aged for 18 months in an oak foudre with a combination of both lactobacillus and pediococcus. The beer was then aged and additional 12 months in freshly emptied apple brandy barrels before being bottled.

Allagash Monmouth Red 2A beer with the same name was first released by the Portland, Maine-based brewery a couple of times as draft-only options in late 2014, although the ABV on those versions were lower at 8.2 percent and 9 percent.

The newest incarnation will be packaged in 375ml bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
