How do you put new life into old beer? Add fresh local berries, of course.

Allagash Brewing Co. of Portland, Maine will soon be releasing its new beer Pick Your Own. The beer is a sour red ale brewed with Allagash’s 2-Row malted barley blend, Special B, Munich malt and raw wheat. Hallertau hops are also used to create this beer that spends two years aging in oak foeders. After that, Allagash added local raspberries, cherries, strawberries and blueberries and then the beer was aged for an additional three months.

The 6.4 percent ABV Pick Your Own will be available in 375ml bottles in addition to draft options during Allagash’s annual Wild Beer Roundup on Jan. 28. The bottles will be priced at $15 each and there will be a 2 bottle per person limit on purchases according to Brett Willis, marketing specialist for Allagash.

The Wild Beer Roundup will also feature:

  • Little Sal – 6.5 percent ABV
  • Cuvée d’Industrial – 7.5 percent ABV
  • 2014 and 2015 – Coolship Resurgam – 6 percent ABV
  • 2015 and 2016 – Farm to Face – 6.2 percent ABV
