In February, Tenemu reported on AleSmith filing a label that hinted at a change in the type of barrels used for aging Vietnamese Speedway Stout. The wait for the new version will soon come to an end,

According to an Eventbrite post, there will be a second new variation of Speedway Stout, Old Rumskull. This beer is “a playful take on Barrel-Aged Old Numbskull, our American barleywine aged in Rum barrels from Nicaragua” according to a Facebook post. Featuring “intense” American hops, the ABV for the base beer, Old Numbskull, is 11 percent.

Both beers will go on sale April 10 at 11 a.m. through Eventbrite. Bottle pickup is slated to begin April 15 at the San Diego-based brewery.

Rye Barrel-aged Vietnamese Speedway Stout sells for $30 per bottle, while bottles of Old Rumskull are available for $28.

An email sent to AleSmith seeking additional detail was not immediately returned.
