For anyone who may have been hoping the legendary band Sublime would release a new album someday, that wait continues. On the other hand, the band and AleSmith Brewing Co. will be launching a new beer for consumption while on trips down memory lane this summer.
Brewed and canned by AleSmith Brewing Co. of San Diego, Sublime Mexican Lager is a 5.2 percent ABV Vienna-style lager available in limited edition 40-ounce bottles, and on draft at the initial release.
The launch will take place in southern California. Hosted by AleSmith, the event aims to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original release of the Sublime album 40-oz. to Freedom with the debut of the collaboration beer.
“The goal from the start was to create a beer that the band and its fans would love without compromise,” said Peter Zien, owner and ceo of AleSmith. “When you think musical pioneers Sublime, you think sun, surf, good vibes and mash-up of styles. We channeled all that and put summertime in a sixer.”
Pre-orders for the 40-ounce bottles can be placed beginning July 8 on Eventbrite.com, pick-up begins one week later. In August, six-packs of 12-ounce cans will “hit shelves in numerous states.”
Additional details regarding the event can be found on the brewery’s website.
