Jester King Brewery has announced that Adrienne Ballou will be leaving her position as head of the barrel program to pursue a career in winemaking.
Ballou joined the Jester King in January 2013 after completing a wine making fellowship with La Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin in Burgundy, France. She focused on fruit refermentation and was promoted to head of the Austin, Texas brewery’s barrel program in March 2014.
“If we may say so ourselves, given the quality of the fruit beer produced at Jester King during Adrienne’s tenure, we’d say she knocked it out of the park,” reads a post on Jester King’s website. “On top of that, Adrienne was a wonderful person to be around day in and day out at the brewery, and acquitted herself with the utmost professionalism and grace.”
According to the brewery, Ballou will be spending some time in Australia for the grape harvest there before returning to Texas to “pursue wine making here at home.”
