Adelbert’s Brewery will be releasing a new Vintage Series beer this month.
The Austin, Texas-based brewery has announced its newest beer will be Vintage Nun, a 5.8 percent ABV witbier that uses Naked Nun wit as its base before being aged in red wine oak barrels for over two years.
“I love the complexity of flavors that develops when we let our beers age in barrels,” said Scott Hovey, founder and brewmaster at Adelbert’s, in a press release. “This batch is particularly special because it is a blend of spontaneously fermented beers and some of the oldest beers we’ve brewed.”
Vintage Nun is the latest release in Adelbert’s Vintage Series, which is made up of beers that are aged in different kinds of barrels. In addition to Vintage Nun, there have been five other releases in the Vintage Series: Tripel Treat rum barrel-aged tripel (11.7 percent ABV), Contemplating Waterloo gin barrel-aged saison (9.1 percent ABV), Barrel Aged Naked Nun barrel-aged witbier (5.8 percent ABV), Vintage Monks barrel-aged dubbed (9.1 percent ABV) and Barrel of Love bourbon-barrel aged chocolate stout (8 percent ABV.)
Vintage Nun will be packaged in 750ml bottles and will be begin distribution “throughout Texas” during the last week of February. In addition, a few kegs will be sent to the state of New York where the brewery is re-launching distribution in March.
