An abbreviated version of Brasserie-Brouwerij Cantillon’s most famous event is taking place today, but only on one continent.

That event is Zwanze Day 2020, the annual celebration put on by Cantillon being held at various locations, with each location pouring this year’s release brewed specifically for the festivities by the Brussels, Belgium-based brewery.

Although the event is usually a world-wide affair, due to concerns over the coronavirus, this year’s incarnation is limited to just 15 countries, all of which are taking place in Europe.

The specific beer being poured is 2020 Zwanze, a lambic-style ale brewed with beetroot that meant to help the brewery “return to our roots.”

“The beer’s color is intensely red, fluorescent even, and the nose is fruity yet quite earthy,” reads a post on Cantillon’s Facebook page. “The palate is complex, a nice balance between the acidity of the Lambic and the roundness of the beetroot.”
