LAKEWOOD BREWING ANNOUNCES 2019 RELEASE CALENDAR, SALTED CARAMEL TEMPTRESS DEBUTING IN OCTOBER

There are a number of big changes coming this year for fans of Lakewood Brewing Co. in Garland, Texas, including a new series of releases and a brand new variant of its most popular stout.

According to a post on the Garland, Texas-based brewery’s website, the biggest news is the debut of Salted Caramel Temptress, an imperial milk stout brewed with caramel and salt that uses Lakewood’s Temptress as its base.

The new release will replace Coconut Temptress in the brewery’s Seduction Series lineup and is scheduled to ship to retailers packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles in October.

“I’ve never been this excited to release a programming calendar,” said Wim Bens, president of Lakewood, in a post on the bruery’s website. “We have been working hard, looking at past and present trends, listening to our fans, and doing a lot of doodling on the whiteboard. We feel like we have a range of diverse beers that will be incredibly popular with not only our fans, but with new craft beer drinkers as well.”

In addition, Lakewood will be debuting a brand new Small Batch Series, which will “be showcasing our brewers’ passion projects, secret recipes, and happy accidents.” The series will feature four new beers packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce cans that will be “very exclusive, very rad, and very limited in the market”:

  • Earthly Wings IPA (4.7 percent ABV) — February-March
  • Marg. Muy Importante Mexican Style Lager (4.7 percent ABV) —May-June
  • Mellon Baller Imperial Watermelon Gose (ABV TBD) — August-September
  • Droid Rage Imperial Red Ale (ABV TBD) — November-December

The brewery will also be adding a year-round option in the form of Lemonale, a 4.7 percent ABV “serious ale with a lemon wedgie” that will be available starting in March packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Lakewood’s Seasonal Release Series is getting two new member as well: Cold Front IPA, a 7.5 percent IPA that will be shipped to retailers from January through March packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles; and Artsy Tartsy-Black Currant, a berliner weisse style ale brewed with black currants that will be available from March through July in six-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Finally, the brewery’s Limited Release Series will include not only the new Jack’D Up Punch in June exclusively on draft, but also Lion’s Share VII Anniversary Ale in August and the return of Bourbon Barrel Temptress in December.
