FOUNDERS RELEASING CANADIAN BREAKFAST STOUT IN BOTTLES NATIONWIDE DEC. 1

After months of speculation, rumors, and hints, Founders Brewing Co. has officially announced that CBS—better known as Canadian Breakfast Stout—will be the final Barrel-Aged Series entry for 2017.

As with previous incarnations, the imperial stout is brewed with chocolate and a blend of coffees before being aged for over a year in spent bourbon barrels that were most recently aging maple syrup.

This will be the third time the stout has been released: it debuted in 22-ounce bottles in October of 2011 and was rereleased as a draft-only option in one-quarter-bbl kegs that were distributed nationally in 2014.

Canadian Breakfast Stout will join five other beers that have been released as part of Founders’ Barrel-Aged Series this year:

  • Frootwood — January
  • Kentucky Breakfast Stout — April
  • Doom — May
  • DKML — July
  • Backwoods Bastard — October
  • Canadian Breakfast Stout — December

According to a post on Founder’s website, the newest version of Canadian Breakfast Stout is scheduled to be available at retailers across the brewery’s 45-state distribution network on December 1. However, unlike the other five releases in the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series, CBS will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($24.99) exclusively.
