CIGAR CITY ADDING JAI LOW IPA IN 16-OUNCE CANS TO LINEUP IN OCTOBER

One of Cigar City Brewing’s most popular IPAs is getting a variant with significantly fewer calories.

The beer in question is Jai Low IPA, a 4 percent ABV IPA that will have only approximately 130 calories for a 16-ounce can. As the name suggests, the base beer is the Tampa-based brewery’s Jai Alai IPA, a year-round release named after a competitive game native to the Basque region of Spain that comes in at 7.5 percent ABV and has 330 calories in a 16-ounce can.

Jai Low IPA will be the latest variant of the popular Jai Alai IPA, joining previous releases like Spanish Cedar Jai Alai, a 7.5 percent ABV IPA brewed with Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, CTZ, Motueka and Simcoe hops before Spanish cedar is added post-fermentation; and White Oak Jai Alai, 7.5 percent ABV IPA conditioned on white oak spirals.

According to Cigar City’s 2020 release calendar and a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Jai Low IPA will be packaged in 16-ounce cans that are scheduled to be available at retailers across the brewery’s distribution network from October through December.
