BREWERY OMMEGANG ADDING BARREL MAPLE ALE TO LIMITED SERIES

A new creation from Brewery Ommegang may look more than a bit familiar to long-time fans

The beer in question is Barrel Maple Ale, a 9 percent ABV imperial brown ale brewed with maple syrup and aged in bourbon barrels. According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the limited release will be packaged in 750ml bottles.

The Cooperstown, N.Y.-based brewery released a very similar beer last year named Barrel Maple Brown, an 8.6 percent ABV imperial brown ale brewed with maple syrup before being aged in bourbon barrels for eight months and packaged in 750ml bottles.

An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
