Sixpoint Brewery has announced a new phone app will enable customers to purchase limited and small batch beers directly from the brewery’s production facility in Brooklyn, N.Y.

While the physical beers will not be released at the brewery until Sept. 30, customers will be able to download a beta version of the mobile app at sixpoint.com/beta that will go live on Sept. 22. Customers will then be able to buy new canned small-batch offerings on Sept. 25 starting at noon EST.

“We can now look back and clearly see there were certain moments that altered the course of brewing forever — the discovery of yeast, the invention of pasteurization, the development of the automobile, etc,” said Shane C. Welch, founder at Sixpoint. “Flash forward to 2017, and Sixpoint has devised a way to directly link the brewery to its customers from the palm of their hand. For generations, breweries and their supply chain were shrouded in mystery – the process and the entire ecosystem was kept out of the public eye, and the actual product was just something that appeared on the shelf or on tap alongside a marketing message. We’ve changed all of that with our mobile app, as we have directly linked our customers with our great suppliers, the formulation process, and the product itself.”

The first new beer to be sold on the app will be Toppen-ish, an unfiltered IPA from Sixpoint’s Farm to Pint series, which is “a rotating series in which Sixpoint highlights individual hop farms, terroir, and relationships with elite hop growers,” while the second beer will be Lil’ Raspy, a berliner weisse-style ale brewed with over 200 pounds of raspberries per 20 barrel batch. Both beers will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans.

According to a press release, there will be no walk-up sales at the brewery, as all sales of the inaugural canned beer release will take place through the app, but there will be crowlers of the beers for sale on-site.
