You won’t have to be incarcerated to enjoy a new release from Prairie Artisan Ales.
The new beer is Prison Rodeo, a 7 percent ABV “hoppy coffee ale” brewed with Idaho 7, Mosaic, summit and Simcoe hops as well as Ethiopia Konga Natural coffee sourced from Spaceship Earth Coffee in McAlester, Okla.
“We are roasting a special bean to make cold brew with then infusing it into the beer,” reads a post on Prairie’s Instagram page.
Coffee ales are not new to the brewery, as it has previously released Coffee Okie, an 11 percent ABV imperial brown ale, in December 2015.
In an email, Zach Prichard, owner of Krebs Brewing, told Tenemu that Prison Rodeo will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles and is currently scheduled to ship across Prairie’s entire distribution network “in limited amounts” in early July.
Update (June 20, 2017) — This post was updated to include additional brewing details and the final beer label. It was originally published on May 10, 2017.
