The newest batch of Community Beer Co.’s Barrel-Aged Legion is hitting shelves today.

Like the previous three releases, the new Barrel-Aged Legion (11.6 percent ABV) is made up of Community’s Legion, a Russian imperial stout that incorporates 12 different malts, including English Maris Otter, dark crystal and highly roasted black malts. According to Corey Dickinson, marketing operations, events and facilitates manager for the  Dallas, Texas-based brewery, the newest version was aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for five months before it was bottled.

This newest batch is the fourth time Barrel-Aged Legion has been released, following the debut of the beer in December of last year.

Dickinson told Tenemu in an email that there would be an additional release of Barrel-Aged Legion hitting shelves in “3-4 weeks” that was also aged in Woodford Reserve barrels, but that the next incarnation of the beer coming in “late winter/early spring” will be aged in Macallan whisky barrels.

According to Dickinson, the newest version of Barrel-Aged Legion will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and is scheduled to be arriving to retailers starting today. Unlike previous releases, a limited amount of the beer is expected to be available in Austin, Texas as well as in Community’s home city of Dallas.
