A new release from Madtree Brewing Co.’s is sure to put a smile on a horticulturist’s face.

According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the Cincinnati, Ohio-based brewery will be released in Hortense, a saison-style ale brewed with cucumbers and nasturtium flowers sourced from Carriage House Farms in Cincinnati. The beer is being brewed in collaboration with the Cincinnati Flower Show, which runs from April 13-17 this year.

The name Hortense is taken from a French given name that originally came from the Latin word meaning gardener.

Hortense will be packaged in 500ml bottles and is being bottled sometime this month. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
