Live Oak Brewing C0. is shipping cans of one of its beer for the first time.
The first beer to be shipped is Hefeweizen, a 5.3 percent ABV hefeweizen brewed with wheat malts and “a few hops” that was first released as a draft-only option in 2003. Hefeweizen is packaged in six-pack cases of 12-ounce cans.

According to Chris Cherry, distribution manager for Live Oak, a small number of the cans were delivered to Austin, Texas-based retailer Party Barn today, but that the rest of the cans will begin shipping to stores in the Austin area next week. In a phone call, Cherry also told Tenemu that the brewery’s Pilz (4.7 percent ABV) is scheduled to be next on the canning line and should ship to retailers in February, with Big Bark Amber Lager (4.9 percent ABV) following in March.
In addition, Cherry told Tenemu that while Live Oak self-distributes in the Austin area, the brewery is currently working on distributing its beers to other major markets in the state of Texas.
