We now know the third releasing Founders’ Brewing Co.’s Barrel-Aged Series for 2017, and it is a beer that fans have seen before.
The beer is Doom, a 10 percent ABV imperial IPA that has been aged in bourbon barrels. The IPA was first released as a draft-only option in 2009 before debuting in bottles as a member of the Grand Rapid, Mich.-based brewery’s Backstage Series and uses Founders’ Double Trouble IPA as its base.
Doom will join five other beers being released at part of Founders’ Barrel-Aged Series this year: Frootwood, which has already been released; Kentucky Breakfast Stout, which is scheduled to be released on April 1, Backwoods Bastard and two more beers that have yet to be announced.
According to Founders, the newest incarnation of Doom will be packaged in both 750ml bottles as well as four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and is expected to ship to retailers nationwide in May.
