The Bruery Terreux introduced Hottenroth in 2015. The namesake of the award-winning beer paid homage to founder Patrick Rue’s grandparents, Frederick and Sarah Hottenroth.
Dedicated to Mr. Hottenroth, Frederick H. is by comparison “a little racy (with) even more funky and earthy notes” according to Terreux’s website. “This is a beer with an entirely different personality.”
“My grandfather was a brilliant inventor,” said Rue. “He had a mind for innovation.”
Drawings of Hottenroth’s inventions add a personal touch to the label of the 750ml bottle. Frederick H. sports 4.4 percent ABV, somewhat stronger than is typical for the berliner weisse style.
On Dec. 2, Frederick H. becomes available via The Bruery’s online store, followed by a national release to the 28 states The Bruery currently distributes to.
