There is already one event taking place in July that has been announced to take the place of Wicked Weed Brewing’s 2017 Funkatorium Invitational, and now you can add one more to the list.

Greenville, S.C.-based Birds Fly South Ale Project has announced it will be hosting The Funk Collective: A Gathering of Independent Breweries on July 8 in conjunction with Revelry Brewing Co. and The Community Tap. In an email, Ames Webb, marketing director for Birds Fly South, told Tenemu in an email that more than 25 breweries from around the country will be attending the event, all of which are “dedicated to the art of making funky and sour beer.”

This is the second event to be billed as a way to get breweries together that had already budgeted time, effort and beer for Wicked Weed’s 2017 Funkatorium Invitational, but decided not to attend after the brewery announced that it was being acquired by AB InBev. The first event is the We’re Funk’d: Sour Stroll 2017 put on by Springdale Barrel Room in Framingham, Mass., which will encompass up to 10 bars in the Cambridge and Somerville areas and is scheduled for July 9.

According to Webb, the list of breweries, pricing information and ticket information will be released later this week. In addition, all profits from the event will benefit the Eblen-Kimmel Charity of Asheville.
