The next entry in Avery Brewing Co.’s Barrel-Aged Series is named after the Latin word for mixed.

Promiscuus is a 7.5 percent ABV sour ale that is—as the name implies—a blend of four different beers that were were aged in two different types of barrels for six months. In an email, Vanessa Cory, marketing communication manager at Avery, told Tenemu that “Andy Parker and Travis Rupp decided to create two different base beer recipes and put each in Madeira wine and port barrels, resulting in four different beers,” which were then blended together to produce the final creation.

The ale will be the 46th release in Avery’s Barrel-Aged Series, which is made up of  “small-batch, highly experimental beers that are only brewed once.”

According to Cory, Promiscuus will be sold in 12-ounce bottles and is scheduled to be packaged on Aug. 16, with 80 cases available when it is released exclusively at Avery Brewing Co. on Aug. 27.
